The Stepparent Adoption Process

As part of a stepparent adoption, the stepparent agrees to assume parental responsibility for his or her spouse’s child. The child’s noncustodial, biological parent will no longer have any parental rights or responsibilities for the child, including child support.

If the child’s noncustodial parent is estranged, I can assist you with obtaining voluntary relinquishment of parental rights or with court-ordered termination of parental rights based on a history of abandonment, drug abuse or violence.
